  1. Seismic qualification

  2. 8 hours of emergency illumination

  3. Extremely easy maintenance:
    1. Maintenance-free batteries (no need to maintain electrolyte levels)
    2. Wire-free plug-in components (including the PCB!)
    3. Long-life indicator lights
    4. Simple push-button test switch verifies proper operation of all major internal circuitry
    5. Fuses may be replaced, by hand, in 30 seconds
    6. Charger Module plugs into spring-loaded card-edge connector
    7. Integrated Transformer Assembly/Cable Harness provides easy access to field-replaceable components
    8. Mirror-finish stainless steel construction is impervious to humidity, acids, etc., and is easy to clean
    9. Glare-free silver-on-black labeling is easy for operators to read at any angle

  4. Suitable for use inside primary nuclear containment:
    1. All 304 stainless-steel construction
    2. Nuclear-compatible materials

  5. Adaptable to nearly any situation:
    1. Slim design (only 89 mm depth)
    2. Seven (7) conduit knock-outs
    3. Wide voltage input range (120, 220, 240, or 277 VAC)
    4. Standard model includes two adjustable 18-W lampheads, but models are available with one, two, three, or zero lampheads
  • IMPORTANT POINT! If you have Holophane M-19 units, you can upgrade to the BIRNS Model 4701 without changing your mounting configuration! The BIRNS ELF has identical mounting configuration and envelope dimensions as the M-19 units, while providing multiple improvements in reliability and serviceability.
