BIRNS contributed a feature article for Sea Technology’s 2011 Connector issue entitled “High-Density Electrical Connector Pair Designed For Extreme Depths.” The article included a case study of a solution provided for Oceaneering International in which we developed high performance, custom-designed flange bulkhead connectors for an ROV’s sonar system within a mere six weeks.

BIRNS was featured for the second consecutive year on the cover of Sea Technology's renowned "Cables and Connectors" issue. The 2011 BIRNS-submitted cover shot and caption features Hawaii Underwater Research Laboratory’s (HURL) manned research sub Pisces V at a depth of 950m offshore Oahu equipped with BIRNS hull penetrators, 28 of which are on Pisces V. In addition to molded outboard cable assemblies, BIRNS outfitted the sub with oil-filled cable assemblies with unique double-ferrule hydraulic fittings.

BIRNS was featured on the cover of Sea Technology's renowned "Cables and Connectors" issue with an image of a BIRNS high power motor cable assembly used to supply power for the hot water drill in the Ice Cube Neutrino Detector, a neutrino telescope at the South Pole. BIRNS' expertise was further highlighted in this key issue, submitting the magazine's lead technical article "Deep Submergence Electro-Optical Hybrid Connector and Cable Assembly."
